The display will cover the entire front of the device, and Think Secret reports that, “Sources who have seen the device report that it features a digital click wheel, one that overlays the touch-sensitive display and appears when a finger touches it and disappears when the finger is removed. ” Pretty neat.

Pleo: Dino Robot = Dinobot

Posted in Robots, Toys by Danielle on February 9th, 2006.

Pleo, the friendly dino robot, debuted at DEMO 2006.

Even though Pleo may look cute and cudley, he’s really quite high tech. His polymer- based skin has a network of pressure sensors, there is an infared ray in the head to “see” and avoid objects, force-feedback sensors in his toes to alert him where he is, and Pleo also has a 16 bit CPU, 14 servo-motors, and 40 sensors. The robot’s producers (one of whom is Caleb Chung the co-inventor of the Furby) believe that the Pleo will have more natural movement than previous robots, and will be more involving due to his personality development over time.

Cnet has a video of this lil monster in action here.

New Ipod Nano: 1 gb

Posted in Ipod, Mp3 Players by Danielle on February 7th, 2006.

Apple launched its new version of the Ipod Nano, the 1 gb version, today.

The 1 gb Ipod Nano will have the same features of the 2 gb and 4gb nanos, but will only cost $149. Also, the ipod shuffles, 512 mb and 1 gb, have had a price drop to $69 and $99 respectively. Apple seems to be slowly bumping out the old shuffle line, to be replaced by the new nanos. Shuffles might not be around much longer, so take advantage of the price drop, if you can!
