Video Ipod 6g Mp3 Player Delayed

Posted in Mp3 Players, Ipod by Danielle on April 13th, 2006.

The release of Apple’s new video ipod, the 6g of ipod, has been delayed. The new Video Ipod is rumoured to have a screen that covers the entirety of the front of the ipod, and a touch screen instead of a click wheel.

According to Think Secret, this 6g Ipod was supposed to be released around Apple’s 30th birthday this month, but due to technological issues (especially with the virtual track wheel), the release date has been moved back to the fourth quarter of the year (perhaps in hopes to boost holiday spendings). Apple is also disappointed in not being able to secure a deal with movie studios. Supposedly, Apple wants an iTunes like service for movies, while the movie studios are more in favour of a subscription service. So it looks like we’ll have to wait [yet again] on the new video ipod.

Flashbag: Inflatable Flash Drive

Posted in Random Tech, Computers by Elliott Back on April 12th, 2006.

If you’ve ever wanted a better indicator to the status of your flash drive, Flashbag happily poofs up the more files you stick in him.  To quote their page:

The size of the device changes depending on the amount of data it holds.  When the device is about to blow up you will see the familiar error message on your screen: “There is not enough free space”.  When swithched off the flashbag remains pumped up, so you can estimate with the naked eye how much more pics, books and music albums can be transferred into it.

Unfortunately, it seems to me that this would be greatly inconvenient to carry around:

The extra size is so cute, like a balloon flash drive, but would get stuck on all the other gadgets in the inside of your purse.  Luckily for us, it’s just a mockup.  Otherwise, I’d have to buy one right now!

Samsung X828: The World’s Smallest Phone

Posted in Phones, Multimedia by Elliott Back on April 12th, 2006.

The Samsung X828 is 6.9mm thick, a good 12.7% thinner than the KTF-EV K100, the previous recordholder. Besides its insanely thin size, it boasts the following specs:

  • 80MB of main memory
  • 2 Mega Pixel / 2MP digital camera
  • Built-in MP3 player
  • Bluetooth
  • 1.9″ landscape 262K color LCD

This is the Chinese model–the European cellphone model will be the X820. There is no word yet if or when this cell will come to the US, but we’re all hoping. Here’s a few photos:

Holding the phone sideways you can see how thin and lithe it is! It’s like a size 0 phone!

From the front you can see this phone has all the features you’d expect.
