Right now, Napster is producing two promotional mp3 players.  Users who subscribe to Napster for a year have the choice of recieving a 256 mb flash mp3 player for free, or a 1 gb mp3 player for only 50 dollars. Above is Napster’s 1 gb mp3 player. It has 40 hours of battery life (not too shabby!), and plays DRM10 PlaysForSure files from Napster To Go, WMA files, and MP3s.  Video playback is an option, but is definetly not the main function of this tiny DAP (it only has a 128 x 160 LCD screen– quite small for video watching). There’s also JPEG and FM playback. The mp3 player is about 10-12 mm thick, and overall has a nice, clean appearance.

Canon PowerShot SD700 Review

Posted in Cameras, Canon by Danielle on June 29th, 2006.

Canon’s PowerShot SD 700 is an amazing piece of technology, with 6.0 megapixels, 4x optical zoom, and a 2.5 inch LCD. Yet, surprisingly, it only weighs 5.8 ounces!

canon powershot 700.jpg

As Imaging Resource writes, “The Canon SD700 IS sits at the top of Canon’s popular “SD” series of digital cameras. Like other SD models, it’s slim and trim, with a small, rugged metal case with slightly rounded corners and a retracting lens to make it highly pocketable. What’s really unique about the Canon SD700 IS is that it incorporates Canon’s excellent Image Stabilization (”IS”) technology that drastically reduces the effects of camera shake at slow shutter speeds or long zoom settings. This means you can shoot in poor light without having to put the camera on a tripod to avoid the camera shake. (IS typically lets you take crisp shots under light conditions four times darker than you could manage without it.) Even without its unique IS capability, the Canon SD700 IS is a feature-packed little camera, and offers a large, bright 2.5″ LCD display that’s great both for framing your shots and showing them to friends afterwards. Its 6-megapixel sensor has plenty of resolution to make crisp enlargements, even with significant cropping of its images.

Bottom line, the Canon PowerShot SD700 would be a great choice for users looking for a compact, rugged, and stylish model for a ” take-anywhere” digital camera, with Canon’s powerful image stabilization technology as an added bonus for better photos in dim lighting.”

CNET gave the Canon PowerShot SD700 a 7.8/10:

“The good: Great performance and pictures; effective image stabilization; attractive, comfortable design.

The bad: No aperture-priority or shutter-priority modes; awkward optical viewfinder and power button.

The bottom line: The Canon PowerShot SD700 IS has practically everything you could want in a compact camera, though you might think the price tag a bit steep. “
