Sandisk Sansa e260
Engadget recently reviewed Sandisks’s Sansa e260 (one of three mp3 players in the new e200 series) and found it quite to their liking!
Sandisk has manufactured a new line of flash drive mp3 players- the e200 series. The e260 is about the same size as the iPod nano, but is twice the width.
As you can see, all of the mp3 players in the e200 series have scroll wheels, which are akin to the original ipod. The wheel even glows blue when you use it!
As for the back of the Sansa, it is made from Liquidmetal, and thus is able to completely withstand scratching and fingerprints. The front of the Sansa has a glossy black finish, which does attract fingerprints, although to a lesser degree than the 5g iPod does.
The screen of Sandisks’ Sansa e260 is 1.8 inches (slightly larger than the iPod nano), and very crisp and easy to read. The Sansa can even play some video. Apparently, it can be a little difficult downloading music from services such as iTunes and placing them onto the Sansa, but on the other hand it’s quite easy to move music that you already have on your computer to your Sansa e260 via the USB port.
The Sansa comes in 2 gb, 4 gb, and 6 gb capacities, and retails for $179, $229, and $279 respectively. Compared to the iPod nano, the Sansa comes out on top, with a cheaper price, larger screen, FM tuner, a SD expansion card slot, and a longer battery life.

Actually it works with all download services except for itunes… nothing but iPod works with iTunes and its .aac format.

I got, and loved my e260… but the screen scratches REALLY easy, like.. i had it in my pocket for 2 hours and it was scratched bad. And i brought it back to walmart today, after owning it for only 3 days. It’s good to see i’m not the only one that thinks the screens scratch to easily…

Ok for the screen scratching problem, just buy the travel case that you can see on the sandisk website. It’s awesome (it came with mine at Costco) and it includes a clear sticky piece of plastic that sticks to the screen. It’s cool because the plastic can be easily peeled off and it covers and protects the screen nicely. There’s also a leather case to put the mp3 player in and a hard case to hold it all. And don’t complain about buying new disks, you shoulkd have been more careful with it. (Although I completely understand moving, many things get lost then). I love my Sansa, it’s gorgeous and it works well. MUCH better than an ipod.

well i just got my sansa and its tight and and also i have a pc at home but a mac at work and itunes works just fine on mine all you have to do is plug it in the usb port go to music and go to various artists and drag any song into it. its as easy as 12345……you get it!

You can’t even look at an iPod without it getting scratched. The e260 is overall a great mp3 player. It has reliable functionality, a large screen, FM radio (Nano doesn’t), plays video (Nano doesn’t). It does take a while to load songs using WMP, though, and you HAVE to use that program to convert video to .avi, even if the video already is an .avi, and it takes a long time; almost 10 minutes for just a 30 minute clip.
I do recommend the e200 series. visit www.newegg.com the e240 is on sale and the e260 is $155.00 with free shipping (at the moment).

Im like the 23rd person to lose it aswell.
Its still installed on my computer but somethings corrupted so it doesn’t work anymore.

I have an e250, works great!! Love it more than iPod… for the screen I bought a travel kit for $19.99 includes a screen protector, cleansing cloth and a hard protective case.
I lost my media converter cd and I need to reinstall the thing back… it has an error thing!!!

I recently was given the e250 as a gift and am thrilled. I have had an ipod previously and like this much better. i can expand the memory by another 2GB’s( which you can’t do with ipods). The FM radio is a good touch for those times when you want to catch the news or sports. I highly reccomend the travel kit to kkep it safe.

ATTENTION LOST MEDIA Folks:
I called Sansa North American Technical support and and they are mailing me a cd. They said it would be done under my one year warranty but never asked for a serial number, just when it was purchased. Their North American technical support number is 866-726-3475. I imagine if enough people call they will put it on thier site for download. Good luck.

I have also lost my media converter… has anybody had any luck getting anybody to email them a copy? I have seen a few people say you can get one by calling Sandisk so that will be my next step. Just curious as to whether or not anybody has been able to find it online anywhere.

if you have trouble getting songs or video on then do this:
go to Settings
scroll to USB Mode
choose either MSC or MTP (whichever one wasnt working for you)
