Apple did some serious upgrading to its iMacs and Minis today.

There’s a new 24 inch iMac in town, and it comes with badboy specs, too: 2.16 Ghz, Core Duo 2 Processor, 1,900 x 1,200 resolution, 1 gb of RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive, FireWire 800, and a nVidia GeForce 128 mb 7300t graphics chipset. The other iMacs now come with Core 2 Duo (1.83 Ghz - 2.16 Ghz), 160 gb or 250 gb of hard drive, 512 or 1 gb of RAM, and ATI Radeon X1600 Graphics (but the some of the low end models lack this last feature). The minis were also upgraded to Core Duo 2 status, with 1.66 ghz or 1.83 ghz, 512-2 gb of RAM, and up to 160 gb of hard drive. Pricing now runs: $999 for 1.83 Ghz 17 inch iMac, $1,199 for the 2 Ghz 17 inch iMac, $1,499 for the 20 inch, $1,999 for the 24 inch iMac, and the minis’ prices start at $599 and $799.

Actually, the revamped Mini’s still sport Core Duo not Core 2 Duo. The only change was that the lower mini ditches the 1.5GHz Core Solo and comes with a 1.66GHz Core Duo while the higher model is equipped with a 1.83GHz chip.
