Panasonic’s newest HD Camcorder is now the world’s smallest 3CCD Full HD camcorder at 2.6×2.6×5.3 inches, and 0.75 lbs. With 1,920×1080 30fps recording, revamped image stabilization, and a Leica Dicomar lens, the HDC-SD5 is a perfect camcorder for the on-the-go prosumer. The HDC-SD5 will cost $999.99, and will be available September 15, 2007. You can order it now from Amazon.com.

Camcorder Info notes that the “The Panasonic HDC-SD5 seems to be a solid step in the right direction for Panasonic. An increased LCD resolution, reduced weight, and thoughtful design are all tempting reasons to consider the camcorder. If they could just return the mic jack and add an accessory shoe, we’d be in business.”

The Samsung G800 slider phone has a 5.0 megapixel camera with an auto focus lens, a 5.9-17.4 mm focus length, and 3x optical zoom. The G800 also comes equipped with Bluetooth, USB and 3G or HSDPA connectivity. The other features are under wraps for now, but I’ll be on the look out for the pricing and launch date.

Western Digital’s 2TB External Hard Drive

Posted in Western Digital by Danielle on July 29th, 2007.

If a 1.5TB external hard drive couldn’t hold all your “data”, Western Digital’s new Dual-Drive My Book 2TB External Hard Drive should suffice. The models, each with differing features, are My Book World Edition II, My Book Pro Edition II, and My Book Premium II. However, all this excessive storage will cost you big- between $749 and $799 based upon the aforementioned model. “The explosive growth in devices that create rich multimedia content — from digital cameras to music players to digital video camcorders — continues to drive consumers’ insatiable demand for more storage capacity. The popular My Book family of external drives delivers peace of mind in a simple solution that can provide remote access, sharing, protection and storing of precious files,” said Jim Welsh, vice president and general manager of WD’s Branded Products and Consumer Electronics businesses.
