LaCie’s Golden Disk 500 GB Hard Drive

I’m totally in love with LaCie’s Golden Disk HDD. Designed by Frenchman Ora-ïto, the Golden Disk has 500 GB of storage space, One Click Back Up software for Mac and PC, and a classy design to boot! The LaCie Golden Disk will launch in October for around $189, so be ready!
Sony’s Rolly Rolling in September 29th

Personally, I find this gadget extremely amusing. It rolls, lights up, and plays music. Honestly, what more do you people need? However, that being said, I would not be willing to drop $350 on it.
The Sony Rolly is motion-controlled, and has direction sensors (it can tell which way is up). You change the volume by turning the Bluetooth capable player clockwise or counterclockwise, and you can skip or repeat tracks by rolling the Rolly forwards or backwards or by simply shaking it. You also have the choice of either making the Rolly’s dance moves, or downloading them directly to the your Rolly. Unfortunately, the Rolly only has 1 GB of memory, and 5 hours of play time.

If you’re still enamored, you can buy your own Rolly in Japan on September 29th for $351. Oh and the carrying case and charging dock will cost you extra ($17.50, and $35 respectively).

Want 30 Million? Google Says Go to the Moon!

Google has set up a $30 million fund to encourage a moon race in conjunction with the X PRIZE Foundation. The winning team will receive $20 million, but in order to win you must land a privately created spacecraft on the moon and have your spacecraft perform certain tasks (travel 500 meters and transmit high definition video images back to earth). The second placed team will receive $5 million, and another $5 million is set aside for “bonus prizes.”
The Mercury News reports that “Peter Diamandis, chief executive of the X PRIZE Foundation, said in a statement that the goal of the competition is to stimulate the development of low-cost methods for robotic space exploration.
“The use of space has dramatically enhanced the quality of life and may ultimately lead to solutions to some of the most pressing environmental problems that we face on earth – energy independence and climate change,” Diamandis said.”
Samsung’s Sleek SGH-F700 Makes Those without Vodafone Sad

Samsung has unleashed its formidable iPhone killer- the F700. This awesome Samsung handset will have a 3 megapixel camera, a 3.2 inch 432 x 240 resolution touchscreen, a QWERTY keypad, Bluetooth 2.0, HSDPA, a microSD expansion slot, and an integrated media player (H.263 / H.264, MP3, AAC). The F700 also has a spiffy new interface (“Croix”) that won the IF Communication Design Award 2007. No word on pricing or launch date, sadly.

Apple’s 3G 16GB iPhone for Europe?
Just one more piece of Apple related news, I swear.

I hope you didn’t buy a $399 iPhone just now, thinking that that’s the best it’s ever going to be. Because it looks like Apple is going to launch a 16GB iPhone with 3G capabilities in Europe. The above leaked ad from T-Mobile Germany shows the iPhone with HSDPA and UTMS with full 3.6 Mbps downloading speeds. Although the ad does mistakenly label the iPhone as an “iPod” once, it still seems in line with T-Mobile/Apple’s marketing. It’s also consistent with Apple’s timelines, ad Apple said that they would launch the iPhone in Europe in the 4th quarter. Look for the 3G iPhone to launch November 12th for the price of 499 Euros (687 USD).
