Apple Macbook Air- Envy of All

So you’ve probably already heard about Apple’s latest Macbook, the Macbook Air. The Macbook Air is currently the world’s thinnest notebook at 0.76 inches in width and 3 pounds in weight. The Macbook Air sports a 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of memory, 80GB PATA hard disk drive, a 13.3-inch glossy widescreen display, keyboard with backlighting, spiffy multi-touch trackpad, Bluetooth 2.1+, and five hours of battery life. Unfortunately, the Macbook Air completely lacks an optical drive (you’ll have to purchase an external SuperDrive for $99), cannot be user-updated (battery replacements and the like must be done by Apple for a mandatory price, of course), and has a ridiculous price of $1,799. Oh, and if you want the 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and the 64 GB solid-state hard drive, then you’ll have to cough up $3,098. Yikes! So, while the Macbook Air is an aesthetic winner, its high price and lack of an optical drive may make would-be consumers wary.

[CES08] I-mu I-Jerry Confuses… Intrigues

Most people wouldn’t think of creating a bunny speaker. But the folks at I-mu did (to be fair, they also created a singing table). I-mu I-Jerry is “lovely, cute, smart, and braveā€ according to his press release. What does he do, you say? Good question! With 1 GB of on board memory and ear controls, I-Jerry’s butt vibrates on whatever surface he’s on and transforms it into a speaker. Innovative, no? Although I imagine the sound quality to be a bit sub-par, the I-mu I-Jerry is an intriguing gadget, nonetheless. The I-Jerry will launch sometime this year for $99.

Clearly, this iPod dock is one of the better finds at CES this year. The Amethyst Piggy iPod Dock comes in three colours (white, pink, and yellow). If you want to change tracks or adjust the volume level, then simply touch the Piggy’s ears, or use the included remote. There’s no word on pricing or release date, but you can click here for more information from Amethyst.

Pansonic’s Godlike 150″ TV

Posted in Tvs, Newsies, Panasonic by Danielle on January 14th, 2008.

There’s not much I wouldn’t do to get my hands on Panasonic’s behemoth advanced high definition tv. At 150″ diagonally (or 12.5 feet!), Panasonic’s definition is 2160 x 4096 (4x normal high definition). It sucks in 220 volts (twice what average household sockets provide), costs $115,000, and requires a viewing distance of at least ten meters. So, while extremely impractical, Panasonic’s newest TV is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
