Engadget was lucky enough to get their hands on ASUS’ newest 9 inch (well, technically 8.9 inch) Eee PC. The 9 inch screen (the biggest yet for the tiny Eee PC line) has a resolution of 1024 x 600, which is approximately the same resolution as the 7 inch model. Luckily for Windows junkies, the 9 inch Eee PC is available with either Windows XP or Linux as an operating system. Additionally, the Eee 900 has 1 GB of RAM, up to 12 GB of storage space, and 3.5 hours of battery life. As an ultra-portable laptop, the Eee 900 is slightly larger than its peers, weighing in it 2.2 pounds.  The ASUS Eee PC 900 will launch in Europe in Early Summer 2008 for a price of 400 Euros (631 USD), and will eventually come over to the States, as well. UK Shoots to Power Every Home with Wind Energy by 2020

The UK is taking giant strides in promoting green sources of energy. Recently, Britain has announced plans to power every home with the energy generated from off-shore wind plants by 2020. Yet, in order to achieve this goal, the UK must increase wind power production by 60-fold (wind generated power currently accounts for only 2% of its energy generation) and greatly alter the look of its coastlines by putting up turbines. Business secretary John Hutton stated that the UK must vastly increase the amount of space used for wind farms on Britain’s shores. Right now, the plan is hindered by a lack of turbines; the turbines are necessary to increase the amount of energy produced from half a gigawatt to the goal of 33 gigawatts. You can read more about this project here or here.
