Seven Environmentally Friendly Gadgets for Earth Day

7. Floral Pliers from Bloomsbury

These floral plyers are sure to place any woman in the mood to fix up any run-down and defunct appliance, thus extending the life on such products, reducing the number of appliances thrown out each year, and leading towards a more environmentally friendly planet.

6. Eco Lamp Bases, Lamp Shades, and Light Bulbs

These lamp bases and shades are made of 100% recycled cardboard, yet still appear stylish and modern. The energy saving light bulbs (not shown above) use 75% less energy than a regular lightbulb, and have a life of seven years!

5. Message Plants

What better way is there to tell someone you love them than through an environmentally friendly and adorable plant? The plant grows to reveal the message “I Love You” within one week.

4. The Asus U5

Asus’ U5 laptop computer is an ultra environmentally friendly laptop that is lead and halogen free! It also has some nice specs: weighs 3 pounds, has a 12.1″ widescreen, 512 mb of ram, and a fast Pentium M processor.

3. Solar Power Chargers

With these charges, you can recharge your iPod, PDA, or cell phone utilizing only the sun’s power.

2. Eco-Friendly Ipod Cases

These ipod nano cases, made from 100% recycled translucant polycarbonate, completely protect your ipod while still offering full access to the click wheel control. The cases also come in six fun colours!

1. Grass Arm Chair Kit from Purves and Purves

There’s nothing that says “I Love Planet Earth” more than this grow-it-your-self Grassy Airm Chair kit from Purves and Purves. Simply place the frame in a well situated position in your yard (choose well, you won’t be able to move it!), and then pour soil and plant grass seeds on top of it. If you water it carefully, you should have a beautiful grassy arm chair beginning to grow within ten days!

Zzzidt Chair

Posted in Furniture, Chairs by Danielle on January 3rd, 2006.

Zzzidt is a multipurpose chair that can also be used as a stool or table. Richard Hutten designed Zzzidt so that it could be easily moved around by its handle. I particularly love the neon orange colouring, and the handle also makes an ideal cup holder! Zzidt retails for 95 Euros or 114 USD.

Twist-Together Lamps

Posted in Random Tech, Furniture by Danielle on December 11th, 2005.

These Twist-Together Lamps from Glide are the height of awesomeness.

Basically, these lamps hook together to support eachother, and share power, so they can be configured in many different (fashionable) ways. These lamps come in either the “chocolate” set (pictured above) or the “candy” set (pictured below). They’re a tad pricey, with a cost of $399 for four lamps or $585 for six, but they still made Cool Hunting’s Holiday Gift Guide, this year.

This odd table cleans up after you by randomly sweeping all of your possessions off of the table and onto the floor!
