iPhone Firmware 2.0 Hacked!

The iPhone Dev Team has hacked the latest iPhone firmware within days of the 3G iPhone (and subsequent 2.0 firmware) being released. This means that you can jailbreak (allow your iPhone or iTouch to run Apps developed outside of the realm of Apple) and unlock your iPhone or iTouch (to allow it to run on different networks like T-Mobile, Sprint, or Verizon). Here’s the link to the step by step directions for using Pwnage with a 2G iPhone. Here’s the 3G jailbreak guide. The Pwnage 2.0 tool is really easy to use, too. For jail-breaking, unlocking, and updating a never before pwned 2G iPhone, all I had to do was upgrade iTunes to 7.7, download the 2.0 iPhone firmware, download Pwnage 2.0, and download two different bootloaders (3.9 and 4.6). Then, follow the directions, and voila! You’ll soon have an unlocked, jailbroken iPhone for free! Major props to the iPhone Dev Team. My favourite thing about the new firmware is, of course, all of the new apps in the iTunes store. There are a lot of fee apps that are incredibly useful (like the Facebook App, Urbanspoon, BoxOffice, Pandora). So, what are you waiting for? Get Pwning!
