Nokia 770 to have Google Talk
Nokia and Google are partnering up to create the new Nokia 770 Internet Tablet. The phone will allow users to surf the internet or send messages while they talk upon the Nokia phone through Google Talk. This means that people who own the Nokia 770 will be able to talk amongst themselves for free, but not call normal phone numbers. Because it is based upon short-range WiFi technology, the Nokia 770 is technically not a “cell phone”, but rather an Internet Browser with cellular capabilities (via Google Talk, anyways). The Nokia 770 will also function as a music and video player, and will cost approximately $390 when it retails.

The poster is a little bit behind in his news: Nokia 770 has long been out and is a great success. Nokia & Google are collaborating on its successor.

Yeah, this news piece is not 100% accurate. The original poster should have done his homework. Same goes for Jeff. ; )
I’m using Googletalk on my 770 now and can easily call ANY phone as long as I add the number to my Gtalk contacts. There’s about a 3 second conversation lag. Still trying to figure out how to contact other 770 devices.
I’m also using the GAIM IM client successfully with AIM and MSN accounts. Nice work, Nokia!
