The Best Home Consumer-Grade Camera?

Posted in Cameras, Sony by Danielle on August 19th, 2006.

While my brother, Elliott has chosen Sony’s Cybershot DSC-H5 as the best consumer grade camera, I myself believe that Sony’s Cybershot DSC N1 8.1 megapixel camera is the best home consumer-grade camera.

The most important features are:

  • 8.1 megapixels
  • 3x optical zoom/6x digital zoom
  • 3.0 inch LCD display/touch screen menu
  • Long battery life: 300 shots per charge
  • ISO 800
  • VGA 640 x 480 Video at up to 30 fps

For a price of $380, Sony’s Cybershot DSC-N1 is an excellent consumer camera, especially for beginners. Its large 3.0 inch touch screen menu is easy to use, and also has an impressive slide show mode. PC Magazine reviewed the DSC-N1 and gave it a 4/5, “very good” rating, reporting that the camera consistently took high quality photos. Sony’s DSC-N1 is the perfect home consumer grade camera because of its high quality photos, large viewing screen, exceptionally long battery life, and beginner friendly interface.

[...] Like all Sony cameras, you can expect great image quality, good features, and an easy to use interface. What sets it apart from a smaller, more portable digital camera is the extreme zoom options–great for taking shots of your kids’ soccer games–and the image stabilization, which prevents blurriness. Danielle is going to be posting her home-use digital camera pick soon, so stay tuned! Update: The Gadgets Blog likes the DSC N1. [...]
